Posted 3/30/20

Happy Monday CUSD Families!

First of all, congratulations on making it through the first week of Distance Learning! We hope you had a safe and healthy weekend.

On Friday, Superintendent Vital held virtual meetings with all school site PTA Presidents, addressing questions and receiving feedback on challenges and successes of the first week of Distance Learning. We are committed to making this the best experience possible for our students and families and, while this is new for all of us, we will continue to seek improvement.

Today I want to share resources to help you through this week as we work to support you and your students.

Chromebooks at Home

If you need a Chromebook or you have more than one student in your home and need an additional device, please contact your site leader so assistance.

We have assembled a team to provide our families with tech support. Many problems can be solved by reaching out to your teacher; however, advanced technical support and device issues can be addressed by contacting our Parent Support Line. Parent Support can assist you with district devices and district account issues:

During this time, there are companies offering free home internet through July 1st.  Both Cox and AT&T have local programs that can help get this set up to create in-home internet access:

Cox Connect2Compete is providing free internet access for 60 days to new customers. ATT Internet Offer (Phone support (English): 855-220-5211(Spanish): 855-220-5225). Requirements for each program are slightly different, but include:

  • Household must have at least one K-12 student and participate in one of the following programs:
  • The National School Lunch Program (NSLP)
  • Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), and/or
  • Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF); who receive Tenant-Based Vouchers, Project-Based Vouchers or Section 8 Project-Based Rental Assistance (PBRA); and/or who live in Public Housing.

In addition, your cell phone provider may be offering free unlimited data and/or the ability to use your cell phone as an internet hotspot for free.  Please contact your cell phone provider to find out.
